PARENT TESTIMONIALS

My son Kevin wanted to learn guitar.  I cautiously explored teachers on Craigslist and come up with a couple possibilities.  Dave returned my call promptly, discussed my wants and those of my son and game me references.  Since he held lessons at our house it was a big selling point in not having to haul one kid around and deal with the other kids at the same time.  The relationship has been wonderful since day one.  Every lesson were are thankful that Dave is the one that came into our lives.  We couldn’t have done better.  Dave is one of the most punctual guys I know.  He is ALWAYS at our home at the time we agree on.  He drives pretty far to get here and I am amazed that he is consistently so on time…. Maybe he hides down the street at Starbucks until just before the lesson….. :-)

Dave makes learning fun.  The lessons are contemporary and he plays right along with the kids….not just instructing and watching them. It’s teamwork…a partnership.  My son took lessons for several years and then my daughter go interested and now she is his student too. The lessons are completely different and tailored to each kid.  Right now my son Kevin (age 17) has left to be an exchange student in Brazil for six months.  Besides taking his skateboard and iPod, he also brought his guitar.  He has been playing and learning new songs and techniques with his host brother.  The foundation Dave gave him, and what stared as a fun skill to know, has given him a common bond and helped to break the ice in his new culture.  Dave makes each kid feel unique and is completely focused on then and what they want to learn. In my mind my kids were his only students.  I was pleasantly surprised to hear of many others who enjoy his talents of teaching as well. Dave is interested in my kids (and our family) as people as well as students.  We are lucky he shares his gift of music and we are fortunate to have him in our lives.

I highly recommend Dave Schroeder as a guitar mentor and teacher.  Both of my sons took lessons from Dave; one for 3 years and the other for one year.  Both boys truly enjoyed their lessons with Dave.  He has a terrific rapport with his students, and he works well with all ages.  He makes his lessons fun, engaging, and meaningful.  Through Dave’s mentorship, my older son earned a coveted spot in Bristow Middle School’s jazz band.  He had taken guitar lessons for about a year, and hadn’t ever played guitar before he began with Dave.  The following year my son made the Heritage High School Jazz Band “B” as a freshman.

Dave goes out of his way to prepare his students to reach their goals musically.  His knowledge of the guitar is extensive. I recommend Dave Schroeder without reservation.  He is a pleasure to know!

I’ve known Dave Schroeder since October 2008 when my son began guitar lessons with him. I recommend Dave to serious students of the guitar, especially those focusing on jazz and other  forms of contemporary music. Dave possess many strengths that make him an outstanding performer and teacher. Most noteworthy are his technical ability on the guitar and knowledge of music, his dedication and professional approach to performance and instruction, and his evident enthusiasm for his profession.

When my son began lessons with Dave he already had a good grasp of music having studied piano for over ten years as well as trumpet in the school bands and several years of guitar studies overseas. Still, he did not have understanding of jazz guitar which was fast becoming his primary focus.  Over a two year period of study with Dave he made significant and tangible progress. Dave worked with him on a wide range of necessary knowledge and skills: theory, technique, improvisation, tone, etc.  After six months of study with Dave my son was selected for the first guitar chair of his high school’s renown jazz band program. He is now studying jazz guitar at Long Beach State. Dave was clearly instrumental in helping his success.

If you, your son or daughter are serious about learning to play the electric guitar I highly recommend Dave Schroeder.
